Building an Empire of Love

Updated: May 9, 2022

The most magical ideas and creations are born when we get out of our heads, listen to our hearts, trust our intuition, and believe in infinite possibilities.

I know this because something that I can only describe as magical has been set into motion for Moxie Marketing – a vision to build an empire of love over the next 5 years.

While Moxie has always been a purpose-driven company, this vision will take our passion for working with nonprofits and causes to the next level. A place where we not only provide services but teach and create for the highest good.

Before this vision was crystalized, there were several puzzle pieces floating around waiting to be connected. I didn’t know it at the time, but the pieces started to move when I lost my husband Josh to suicide last April. Losing him cracked me open in ways I didn’t know were possible and sent me on a journey of healing, transforming, and rediscovering my purpose.

At one point, I wondered if what #TeamMoxie was doing even mattered. That’s when I got a phone call that Moxie had won National Philanthropy Day‘s Outstanding Small Business award. I couldn't believe it. The realization that others saw us as more than just another marketing company was profound.

As the puzzle pieces continued to come together, we set out to create a new logo to represent how Moxie does marketing with heart. I contacted my friend Mariah who is extremely talented at understanding the essence of a brand and translating it into a logo.

One of the first things I noticed in one of the concepts she shared was a crown. I hadn’t told anyone about the phrase ‘building an empire of love’ that had been swirling around in my head. I recognized that synchronicity was a ‘green light’ from the universe to keep heading in that direction.

Countless synchronicities like that appeared over the last 10 months (if I shared them all, this letter would turn into a book). The puzzle pieces finally connected. I could see the blueprint and shared the vision with my team.

I am now excited to share a few pieces of the blueprint for our empire of love with you as well:

  • Building an army of purpose-driven marketers who understand how to connect to love and do marketing with heart. This will support and enhance our service-based offerings for nonprofits.

  • Betting on ourselves by taking risks and investing in people and technology.

  • Aligning ourselves with purpose-driven partners who share a passion for making an impact.

  • Teaching nonprofit professionals how to do marketing with heart to achieve their highest impact.

  • Creating physical products that support causes. In the very near future we will be releasing a children’s book called ‘Be Kind to Yourself’ to teach kids about self-love. It was inspired by my husband and written with social-emotional learning in mind.

  • Teaching nonprofits how to use the social enterprise model to create kick ass products that help them become more sustainable.

  • Creating an innovative marketplace to help individuals navigate emotions. It will lead with content and offer socially good products - a beautiful circle of getting help and giving back.

So how in the world is #TeamMoxie going to bring this audacious vision to life? This is where I surrender to something bigger than me – where I continue to invite the universe to help co-create, to bring in the right people & partners, and to keep lighting up the next step to make the vision a reality.

When I think about the future of Moxie, it’s exciting and scary at the same time. The truth of the matter is that it is only scary when I think about working toward it as a ‘one-woman show’ vs. the leader of a fully capable and purpose-driven team. When I release all personal fears and limiting beliefs, the future of Moxie is a force for good to be reckoned with.

As I wrap up this letter, I feel the deepest gratitude to all of you who have been a part of Moxie’s journey, especially those of you who trusted my team and believed in my ability to push through during my darkest days. Your support helped me learn how to choose joy. It is a gift that I hold very dearly and will never take for granted.

To #TeamMoxie, thank you for all the magic you bring to Moxie as individuals. You all inspire me every day in your own unique ways, and I am honored to have you as teammates. I couldn’t ask for a better team to work toward this vision.

To everyone who is reading this letter, thank you for your support. I hope you will continue to follow Moxie’s journey and be inspired to see the infinite possibilities that exist for you.

With much love and deep gratitude,

- Jeanette Knutti, CEO & Founder of Moxie Marketing
